M is for Martha

M is for Martha (Kent and Wayne)

Martha Kent
Adoptive Mother of Clark Kent AKA Superman
First Appearance Superman #1 Summer 1939

Martha Wayne
Mother of Bruce Wayne AKA Batman
First appearance Detective Comics #33
November 1939

My mother has something in common with the mother of Batman and the adoptive mother of Superman in they were all born in 1939.  Now when I say born about the fictional characters I am referring to their first time in print which is listed above.

Martha's Kent and Wayne both play an important role in the character of their super children one by her absence and the other by her presence.

  1. Visiting you on letter N day for the first time. I remember well reading comic books while growing up. Wonder what you think of the books that are now being published with that format. If you have time or interest, come take a look at my theme, hotels and inns. Don't you just love the variety of work all of us have been up to while preparing for the #Challenge. Happy to say hi. I'll be back.

  2. The absence/presence of a mother impacts a child in many different ways.
They helped to shape the stories of their super children, as we've come to know them.
